I dont' Beeleave it !!!!

I am puzzled when I read about making a low tec home with straw bales.
First the farmer will spray the field with the agro version of AGENT ORANGE
to kill off the remains of the crop and all the weeds.
The tractor will make several passes over the land to
  • Plough
  • Harrow
  • Seed & Fertilize
  • Weedkiller to kill the weeds
  • Fungicide to kill the moulds and to prevent fungi from Killing the plant
  • Insecticide to kill the insects eating it
  • Harvesting
  • Loading
  • Transport to the Farm
  • Haulage to the building site
Just think of all the oil based inputs needed so far without even considering the farmmachinery factories - not forgetting the miles of polypropylene twine
A straw bale house needs a wooden frame - more processing and transport
If the out side is to be plastered chicken netting is pinned in place
Try actually making wire!
Let us imagine that this eco house will have a grass roof
so waterproof the house with a large sheet of Butyl rubber

So what appears to be a homely lowtec house in the country is totally dependent on Oil from some of the most deadly parts of the world.
Low Tec indeed - when the oil dries to a trickle there will not be any more Flights of Eco Fantasy like this - will there?
