My car needs £35 to fill the tank - each week!
70% of that, is of course TAX
So as a direct result of this, I have had to walk far more lately and so I noticed the total lack of Acorns this year
Last year was great for acorns and conkers[horse chestnuts] and would have been useful to put by to get us through the winter.
I have lived in the French Pyrenees, where several years ago, the peasants always dried chestnuts on racks inside their chimneys. They were then minced and crushed into powder. This was made into bread.
In the late summer, they were seen cutting leafy branches from the Ash trees.
In their barns and garages were cages of rabbits. The ash twigs were for the rabbits to eat.
When the leaves and bark were eaten the twigs were put in the loft to dry. Nothing was wasted. During the winter when these twigs would be quite dry they would make excellent kindling for the fire upon which all their cooking was done.
Has anyone ever noticed that countries with a peasant population never appear to be worried by the Energy Famine looming so darkly on the western world
