Can't see - Don't see

When there is a disaster- say - a terrible flood,famine or warfare.
It seems to me that If there is no Camera there... there is no disaster.
When The earthquake hit Haiti and the media left as the news became stale  - did the problem end?
In the same way - would God exist if humans became extinct?
