How much power it takes to keep an LED operating, I know not - but what I do see, as darkness falls across our land, is hundreds of FLOODLIT public buildings.
Lighting up buildings is an unwarranted, unnecessary expense directly funded from the pockets of the poor purely for the glorification of the established
Street Lights, easily seen from space, highlight the actual shape of our illuminated world. I haven't seen the Milky Way since I was a child of the wartime blackout.
Surely ~ if the Planet required humans to reduce their power consumption ~ then the planet wide strings of road lighting, must at least be thought about.
We are not living in the 17th century needing a link man to carry a flaming torch to light our way through footpad and cutpurse infested streets.
Indeed , in the w€stern world just how many people are actually on foot at any time of the day or night ? No! we move around our environment in our cars, trains and buses.
These vehicles have the most wonderful halogen headlights, that beautifully illuminate the road ahead.
So why, are nearly all roads and streets lined on both sides by powerful streetlights, using god-knows-how-much-power right through each and every night ,for years on end?
To light up the landscape like this, is such a complete and utter waste of money, power and energy.
Why is it necessary to spend millions to floodlight all those public buildings using told amounts of expensive energy? Who is looking at them?
Why are neon adverts on all night, why are shop windows blazing with light when all their customers are asleep.
Why do we need 24 hour TV Radio and supermarkets when very few are using these wonderful facilities.
But imagine the outcry we are about to hear when the €conomy [stupid] shuts everything off
