A couple of years ago, every home in our street had a dog, large or small. Some households had two. There were cats and rabbits too.
I even kept a single hen, who kept the egg rack in the fridge full, for years.
Now, there are only a couple of cats left. At least the birds are back on the bird table. No one now has a dog. Something has certainly happened.
Unlike cats, dogs have to be taken for a walk. I strongly suspect, that to carry a poopscoop to deal with smelly dog dirt is a tad too earthly for today's civilized citizenry.
